A story born eight centuries ago

Our Company

The location of the Visintini winery has a history that dates back to the Middle Ages, to 1290 to be exact.
It is located in the hills to the south of the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC area bordering the DOC Collio area and bordering the provinces of Udine and Gorizia.

The Castle and the land

Various vicissitudes led to the purchase of Gramogliano Castle by great-grandfather Domenico Visintini in 1884.

It was an imposing feudal construction that extended with keep and towers over a vast area. Over the centuries, however, this area was destroyed and rebuilt several times.

In this year, the Castle passed by succession to his son Umberto, who became the rightful owner of the Castle and it was he who started the agricultural activity.

After almost 60 years in the business, Umberto felt it was time to hand over the reins to his son Andrea, who continued with both the arable and vineyard activities.

His son Oliviero joined the company. He began to focus on wine production, giving strong impetus and increasing the value of the winemaking tradition.

It was in 2002 that the company passed into the hands of their children: Oliviero, Cinzia and Palmira. It is they who carry on the tradition and continue the business started many years before their father.

The company is immersed in an enchanting landscape in the hills of Corno di Rosazzo. It is characterised by an evocative medieval building, made even more fascinating by the latest reconstruction, which took place after the 1976 earthquake.
It operates on about 32 hectares located mostly in the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC area.

An entirely family-run business.

"We feel obliged to respect traditions and appreciate the past, while looking to the future. That is why we are not content with the success achieved so far, but invest in the quality of our wines and our estate."

Visintini Family

The Visintini Andrea azienda agricola is a member of the Gramogliano Bio District: it was born from the need to gather activities that deal with, use, promote or produce organic products in a distinct
geographical area.

Genuine, unprocessed products, the fruits of a land still unknown to most, where breeding and
cultivation methods still follow ancient traditions that in this borderland have not been eroded by modernity and driven cultivation.

A genuine land… like its inhabitants, frank and direct, where guests are always welcome.
